Election

This year's election saw the nation stunned in the wake of the 'political tsunami' (everyone's calling it that).
BN lost it's two-thirds majority in parliament and 5 states: Penang, Kelantan, Perak, Selangor and Kedah are now in opposition hands.
Kedah will be under PAS-PKR rule! OMG OMG.. I hope they won't implement syariah laws here. I don't want to cover up. As far as I know several of me friends have already changed their names to *** ***** binti *** *****........

Last night was a 'kin cheong' (simply put it means exciting) night for the political candidates and also for me. My lazy nature saw me too lazy to read the papers much, but from political blogs and hearsay here and there I knew the gist of what was going on.
It was so exciting to see the results as they came in! All thanks to Malaysiakini. =P

It was with somewhat morbid fascination that I watched the BN lose seat by seat to the opposition.

Then Penang fell!! Followed by Kedah... my 'soil and water' (tanah air)........*sigh*
My mom called up immediately.

Mom in hushed, strained voice: Wen Chin, where are you? Listen to me carefully. Penang 'bo liao' (meaning 'no more'), our place also 'bo liao'.

Me interrupting in high pitched excited voice: I know I know!! DAP won Penang! Koh Tsu Koon got kicked out also!

Mom: SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Don't talk so loudly! People can hear! 'Kong hokkien Ua' (meaning 'speak in hokkien')!

Me in more subdued tones: Oh.

So the conversation continued in my very halting hokkien...
My uncle bears a very uncanny resemblance to a certain minister and I laughed out loud when my mom said 'ah ku bin ae' (translation: Uncle's face one). hahaha.

Anyway there were lots of crazy rumours flying around also and some of them turned out untrue in the end. Including those involving my 'ah ku bin ae' 's. =P

Mom had asked me earlier to stock up foodstuff in case of any 'untoward incidences'. Unfortunately I don't believe in it.
I even thought that if I couldn't go out I could always call McD or pizza delivery. Thinking back now I really am simple-minded. Not stupid, thank you very much.

All seems peaceful and well in the sleepy hollow of Vista Komanwel Bukit Jalil............
